My Story

At 16, my world changed when I noticed someone at my high school gate but couldn't make out who it was them due to a sudden vision issue. This marked the start of my journey with keratoconus, a rare condition causing my cornea to bulge into a cone shape. The diagnosis left me in tears and fear, impacting every aspect of my life. Through college, navigating social situations became challenging, but upgraded lenses brought some relief, though KC affected both eyes, with the right worse off. Discovering others with similar struggles, including basketball star Steph Curry, provided comfort. With support from my mom and medical professionals, I found strength. However, feeling misunderstood was common until a move to Georgia and surgery recommendation opened doors to connection and advocacy. Through online communities and personal growth, I embraced my mission, founding The KCJ Inc. to provide inclusive support, research, and education for those with keratoconus. My purpose emerged from my pain, driving me to empower individuals and families affected by this condition, ensuring they have the resources and support needed for a thriving journey toward optimal vision health and quality of life.
